With extensive industry knowledge our design team are able to propose and develop power
engineering solutions to meet any challenge. With an in depth understanding of electrical,
safety and environmental codes of practice all designs are developed in the knowledge that
the best practices have been adhered to. The cost of any designs is monitored to ensure
that the developed design is within the project budget constraints. All drawings are
produced on CAD packages and issued for approval prior to construction. As part of the
electrical design IES are able to carry out protection grading exercises, system fault
level calculations, cable sizing, earthing designs, load flow and stability studies all by
our in-house specialists.
Supply, management and distribution of electrical cables and accessories, continually
adapting to the needs of the oil and gas, petrochemical, marine, offshore, construction
and energy industries. We can assemble complete turnkey packages of cables, glands, lugs,
cleats, tray, ladder and other accessories as required. Our objectives are to satisfy all
of your cable requirements, from an immediate demand to an integrated Cable Management
Package - quickly, effectively and competitively. We combine material availability with
technical expertise to develop the most cost-effective cable solution for your project
needs.
Power distribution transformers with oil, silicon, Midel or resin insulation are regularly
supplied and installed by IES with ratings between from 50KVA to 5000KVA and voltage
ratios to suit the electrical distribution or generation requirements. Transformers can be
supplied as free standing units or have an 11kV ring main unit or circuit breaker mounted
directly onto the HV bushings. On the LV side fused or ACB distribution cabinets can be
supplied tailoring the transformer package to the individual site requirement.
At primary voltages above 11kV IES can supply and install Power transformers at voltage
levels up to 132kV for ratings between 5 and 60MVA.
Installation of high voltage switchgear is a highly specialised activity and IES have the
specialist expertise to install switchgear from 400V to 132kV. Each and every switchboard
installation is supervised by a trained engineer and to date IES have installed and
commissioned every current make of 11kV switchgear including oil, air, SF6 and vacuum
circuit breakers. Once installed each switchboard is tested and commissioned to exacting
standards.
On many sites switchgear is reaching the end of it’s design life, IES prides itself in
being able to offer replacement solutions to minimise the site shutdown period.
At the centre of any industrial site there will be an electricity substation forming the
hub of the electrical infrastructure, working 24 hours a day seven day a week. The
reliable running of this substation is of no coincidence when you employ IES to design,
install test and commission the works. Electricity substations are regularly installed
across all the voltage ranges from 400v to 132kV with each substation tailored to the
requirements of the site with switchgear, transformers and protection schemes selected to
provide the right engineering and commercial solution.
Using our specialist cable installation teams we are able offer the complete range of
cabling solutions from control and auxiliary cables, low voltage power to high voltage
power cabling. Each team is fully equipped with cable winches, cable drum jacks, rollers
and drum trailers to enable any installation to be completed smoothly and efficiently.
IES’ team of experts including a highly experienced management team and skilled field
operatives have over 40 years experience working within the cable installation industry.
In addition, all of our field operatives are JIB members and hold all statutory and
relevant certificates of competency of their various disciplines.
We are specialists in all types of cable installation, electrical contracting, high
voltage cable jointing and associated civils works.
We are able to install and fix cables below and above ground in all types of containment
systems such as:- Ladder rack, tray, troughing, basket, trunking, duct, trench, catenary
and drag chains.
The valuable experience that we have enables us to successfully undertake projects,
regardless of size or complexity within many industrial sectors including major
construction, oil and gas stations, petro chemical and power stations, the railway
industry, nuclear plants, off shore/sub sea cabling, data and fibre optic cabling and the
ship building industry.
